Is there any way to find a cat that is lost in the house?

Today I got a new cat from my dad's friend. I had no place for the cat so I put her in a big box. Then I went to the bathroom and came back. When I went back, the cat was missing. I looked everywhere in my house but I wasn't able to find her nor hear her meow... So is there a way to find a cat that is hidden in the house?? Pleas help...
